It is with deep sorrow that we share the sudden passing of Fr David Taylor, who died on Saturday, 25 April 2026 at Northern Beaches Hospital, Sydney, where he had recently been receiving care.
Fr David’s life was marked by a profound commitment to service, faith, and community. After completing a Bachelor of Social Studies (Honours) at the University of Sydney, he entered St Patrick’s College, Manly, in 1986 to begin his formation for the priesthood. He was ordained on 7 December 1991 at Corpus Christi Cathedral, St Ives, by Bishop Patrick Murphy DD, commencing a ministry that would touch countless lives over more than three decades.
In 2009, Fr David began his devoted service as Parish Priest of Manly–Freshwater, where he became a deeply respected and much-loved presence within the community. His leadership, compassion, and steady guidance provided both spiritual and personal support to parishioners through all stages of life. From 2022, he also served as Dean of the Northern Beaches, extending his care and pastoral oversight across the wider region until his retirement in 2024.
Fr David will be remembered for his distinctive warmth, gentle humour, and unwavering pastoral dedication. He had a remarkable ability to connect with people from all walks of life, offering kindness, understanding, and encouragement in equal measure. His legacy is one of faithful service, humility, and genuine care for others.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Fr David’s family, brother clergy, and all who mourn his passing. May they find comfort in the enduring impact of his life and ministry.
Requiescat in Pace.
