Dawn Powles Strathmerton, VIC-AUS Death, Obituary: In Loving Memory of Dawn Powles: Proud Club Champion and Cherished Community Member

It is with deep sadness that the Strathmerton Football Netball Club acknowledges the passing of Dawn Powles (Hall) on Thursday, 23 April.

Dawn was truly Strathmerton born and bred, and her contribution to our club and community will not be forgotten. As a proud premiership player, she exemplified dedication, teamwork, and passion for the game. Beyond her achievements on the field, Dawn was a deeply valued member of our club—respected, admired, and warmly regarded by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Her impact extended far beyond sport. At Strathmerton Primary School, Dawn was a cherished presence whose kindness, compassion, and genuine care made a lasting difference in the lives of many students, families, and colleagues. She will be remembered for her generosity of spirit and her unwavering commitment to her community.

As a mark of respect, the club will wear black armbands during tomorrow’s matches in honour of Dawn’s life and legacy.

In partnership with Strathmerton Primary School, the club will assist with catering for Dawn’s funeral to be held on Friday, 1 May 2026. We kindly invite members of the community to support this effort through donations of food items such as cakes, slices, or sandwiches. Any assistance during this time would be sincerely appreciated.

Our thoughts and heartfelt condolences are with Dawn’s family and friends as they navigate this profound loss. We hope they find comfort in the knowledge that Dawn was deeply valued and will be remembered with great respect and affection.

Rest in peace, Dawn. Your legacy will live on within our club and community.
