Graycen Vargo Texarkana, TX Death: In Memoriam: Graycen Vargo, Texas A&M–Texarkana Student-Athlete

It is with deep sadness that the passing of Texas A&M University–Texarkana student-athlete Graycen Vargo is shared following a medical emergency during a track and field event in New Orleans.

Graycen, a junior from Dallas, was competing in the RRAC Championships when he experienced a sudden collapse. Immediate medical attention was provided on-site, and he was transported to a local hospital, where he later passed away.

Graycen was a valued and respected member of the Eagles Cross Country and Track and Field teams. He was known among teammates, coaches, and peers for his dedication to his sport, his work ethic, and his commitment to both personal and team goals. His presence within the athletic program was marked by positivity, determination, and support for those around him.

In addition to his contributions as an athlete, Graycen was recently recognized with the Eagle Excellence Award, reflecting his broader impact within the university community. This recognition highlighted not only his athletic achievements but also his character and involvement beyond competition.

His passing is a profound loss to his family, friends, teammates, and the wider Texas A&M University–Texarkana community. He will be remembered for his contributions on and off the field, as well as the relationships he built during his time at the university.
